Spectacular footage captured from the cockpit of an adjacent aircraft shows a Russian MiG-31's engine burning out before the pilot ejects and the plane crashes to the Earth. The entire incident was recorded in near perfect clarity by the pilot's wingman.
There is a lot of speculation surrounding this video right now. A lot of people are jumping to conclusions and stating that the aircraft was disabled while flying combat operations in Ukraine, however to date not a single MiG-31 has been brought down as a result of combat. Over the past few years however, there have been at least two incidents involving a MiG-31's engine burning out during a training operation causing the platform to crash to the Earth.
The most recent incident of this occurring was in April where a MiG-31 crashed near Murmansk. At this time, it's unclear where and when this specific footage comes from as the Russian military and state media have yet to comment on the situation. Many individuals across Social Media are of course jumping on the train and saying this happened today which very well may be the case, but as of right now there is no information to support that claim.
If more information about this incident becomes publicly available, we will update this post.
