Laughable video released by the U.S. Airforce shows U.S. Airmen and ROKAF troops conducting the worst imaginable immediate action drill to countering current drone warfare tactics.

Excuse me for typing like a Marine for one second.

Whichever dipshit officer in the Airforce greenlit this as an immediate action drill and then decided to let troops go out into a field environment to practice it needs to put an all stop in place right now and re-evaluate their life. Whoever is in charge of said officer needs to put a "must not promote" on his next fitness report and get whoever it is as far away from the fight as humanly possible, because they're clearly not taking their job seriously and are going to get people killed in the very near future.

I'm not one to nitpick training. I'm really not. I'm all about trying new things and figuring out what will and won't work in a reality contest against the enemy. That said, it takes exactly 0 seconds to look at this video and realize that whoever put this on needs to be fired. Even if it's just a photo-op, it's grossly negligent to be training troops to counter drones in this fashion and will 100% result in needless deaths because someone isn't taking their job seriously.

Here's an anecdote for any officer watching this. During the Global War on Terror, we spent hundreds of millions of dollars developing electronic counter-measures to defeat radio controlled improvised explosive devices. We then spent hundreds of millions more purchasing those systems and outfitting them on every vehicle and patrol going out of the wire. In a matter of minutes that technology was defeated by the enemy simply by making the devices victim activated with two thin blocks of wood with strips of cut up coke cans inside of them.

Want to know what saved lives? It wasn't a half-billion dollars dollars in research and development. It was a Marine Lance Corporal attaching a gardening sickle to the end of a ten foot pole and dragging it across the dirt near suspected improvised explosive devices.

If you want to develop real counter-drone warfare tactics, take a group of Marines out to 29 Palms with all of their CIF issued gear and put them in the worst imaginable living conditions possible. Then, tell them they can go home when they figure out a reliable tactic for not getting spotted by or killed by DJI drones buzzing them at mach-fuck. I guarantee you they'll come up with a solution inside of 14 days, and it'll be something entirely stupid and inexpensive that your billion dollar think tanks couldn't figure out.
