Video From 2020 Circulating as New Footage Showing Death of Russian General

Today, footage circulating from an incident in 2020 that killed a Russian Major General in Syria is being passed off as brand new footage. This video was filmed in August of 2020, and it shows the death of Russian Major General Vyacheslav Gladkikh as well as the wounding of two other Russian Soldiers who were participating in the same combat operations near Deir ez-Zor, Syria.

This footage was originally blogged three years ago by Will Killmore on Funker530, however the video was lost in the transfer between Rumble and our new video host. We are re-uploading it here with additional context since it's making the rounds today and being claimed as footage from last week by pro-Ukrainian sources.

If our peers in the combat footage space could stop taking footage out of context to push a narrative, that would be great. I'm not a fan of being a Facebook fact checker.

The original blog reads as follows.

Russian Major General Vyacheslav Gladkikh was killed by an IED in Syria on or around August, 19, 2020, in Der ez Zor, and the event was caught on video. Two other Russian troops were wounded. General Gladkikh was deputy commander of the 36th Combined Arms Army.
