A joint operation between US Special Operations troops and Kurdish Counter Terror Group (CTG) special forces troops resulted in the capture of two wanted Islamic State henchmen.
The operation took place in late January 2024 in Chamchamal, a city half way between Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah. The HVTs were reportedly both Iraqi nationals. The US and CTG have consistently worked together since the fall of the Islamic State to identify and eliminate ISIS sleeper cells in Iraq and the greater Kurdistan region.
