U.S. Army Mortar Team Has Catastrophic Accident

U.S. Army mortarmen operating inside of their combat outpost in Iraq suffer a catastrophic malfunction while dropping mortars against insurgents.

For the record, I am not a mortarman by trade. I do however know a few, including my colleague Will who was an Army mortarman during OIF and OEF. Now, I'm not sure what caused the mistake we're seeing in this video, but I do know that it was in fact a mistake. Mortars are not supposed to drastically change their point-of-aim while the round is sliding down the tube.

My guess is that the weapon's baseplate wasn't properly set into the Earth, but I definitely could be wrong about that one as the bipod legs on the front of the weapon system also could have caused this failure. Let me know down in the comments section, I know there's a bunch of expert tube-strokers here on Funker530. I was just a big dumb machine gunner.
