Video from the early days of the war in Ukraine reportedly shows the Ukrainian Donbas Battalion assaulting and capturing a Russian proxy-held checkpoint in the Yasinovatovsky district. The aggressive offensive by the Ukrainian troops sends the defending militants into retreat.
The "Donbas Battalion" more specifically identified as the 2nd Battalion of Special Assignment "Donbas" was a Ukrainian National Guard unit created in 2014 as a volunteer unit following the Russian occupation of Crimea and possible invasion of continental Ukraine.
