Footage from the Ukrainian 5th Assault Brigade shows a T-80 main battle tank surging forward under heavy enemy artillery bombardment to provide covering fire for a infantry ground assault occurring simultaneously. The tank is followed by two armored personnel carriers filled with infantry troops. Once they near the objective, the tank boldly drives out front of the enemy positions to begin laying down heavy suppression and drawing fire. Meanwhile, the APCs veer off to the flank and dismount a platoon of infantry to begin clearing operations. This type of coordinated operation is how battles are won. The firing tank forces the Russian troops to keep their heads down while also taking the focus off the Ukrainian infantrymen closing with and destroying each Russian fighting position as they find them.
