Over the past several days, we have seen more and more trench warfare style footage surfacing from both Ukraine and Russian soldiers perspectives.
From Russians assaulting Ukrainian trenches with frag grenades, to Ukrainian commercial drones, retrofitted with mortars harassing Russian occupied trenches. Well, in the footage provided, it would appear we have two Ukrainian troops utilizing under-barrel attached grenade launchers to combat an advancing Russian force. I'm not entirely familiar with Ukraine-Russian weapon systems, but after doing a bit of googling, it would appear these two are utilizing a GP-25, 40mm launcher on their weapons. Please do correct me if I'm wrong and I'll make adjustments.
Despite seeing several videos of modern trench warfare, the angle of this footage paints a different picture. Throughout my life and even my own military career, I always wondered how terrifying trench warfare would be. Sure, we can watch historical footage from World War 2 to get a rough depiction of how life in the trenches were, but nothing will beat footage like this. With modern technology and social media platforms being easily accessible, EVERYONE can now see how difficult, terrifying, and horrid battling an enemy in trench combat really is.
Unfortunately, we don't have a ton of background information on this footage. The video submission didn't have any location disclosed, nor was a timeframe provided. All we can really say is god speed to these two men fighting for their lives.
