Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Ministry (GUR) conducted amphibious raids on Russian-controlled oil and gas drilling rigs off the Crimean Peninsula in the Black Sea, resulting in the capture of Russian equipment.
The initial raids appear to have gone unopposed as the Ukrainian operators boarded the rigs. They captured Russian weapons that were stored on the platforms and also removed communications devices. Rather than destroying the Russian electronic devices, they took them for further analysis to determine how the Russians are communicating and what frequencies they are using.
At one point they meet resistance as Russian attack jets engage them. At least one man portable air defense system appears to have been fired at the aircraft.
