A recon pilot flying a mission over Nikolaevka in the Slavyansk region has his aircraft struck by a MANPAD and is forced to bail out. This video was recorded in 2014.
Footage from 2014 shows the moment a recon pilot bails out of his aircraft. You can clearly see that the APU AN-30B is almost completely engulfed in flames by the time the pilot's chute blossoms and starts carrying him towards a body of water.
MANPAD stands for Man Portable Air Defense system. It is a catch-all term used for guided surface to air missiles carried by ground fighters. Generally speaking, they are mainly a threat to rotary-wing platforms, but in this instance we can see that they are also still a threat to fixed-wing assets as well.
