This footage, provided by the Ukrainian Air Force, shows MiG-29’s from the 40th Tactical Aviation brigade striking Russian assets in a variety of ways, from anti-drone work to punishing ground units with AGM-88 HARM and JDAM packages.
We see the drone get taken out by a MiG at 0:14 in. Right at 0:29, we see the HARM shot. The HARM Air-To-Ground Missile is used to target radio transmission/radar equipment and functionally obliterate anything it’s attached to.This is worth noting, because naturally, MiGs contain none of the required electronics or software to fire a HARM AGM. This capability was retrofitted into Russian/Soviet-designed aircraft, and at the start of HARM usage in Ukraine, featured an ad-hoc control suite on a tablet that was simply kept inside the cockpit. In an impressive bit of camera work, the pilot uses his mirrors to show off as he pickles a JDAM at 0:47. Then, at the end we’re shown a night shot, presumably for rule-of-cool. One other thing worth mentioning is the relatively high altitude at which these pilots are comfortable operating, which suggests a degree of safety in the skies.
