GoPro video recorded by a .50 cal gunner in a humvee captures a near miss with what is allegedly a Russian anti-tank mine. The crew quickly disembarks and has the vehicle sweep back around so they can retreat out of the suspected minefield.
The purpose of disembarking from the vehicle was to minimize any casualties the unit may sustain if the vehicle hits a landmine while turning around. They appear to believe the area to their immediate rear is clear of landmines so the vehicle commander makes the decision to attempt to find another route in a safer area.
It's unclear why the unit didn't make the decision to mark or disable the landmine, that may have happened after the video ended though.
