Ukrainian “Grad” MRLS Crew Drops Rockets on Russians In Avdiivka

This footage, provided by the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade, shows one of their BM-21 “Grad” launcher crews operating against the Russians in the Avdiivka region in March of 2024. We see the crew loading, moving, and ultimately firing the rack of rockets downrange.

The BM-21 Multiple Rocket Launch System, called “Grad” (translation: Hailstorm) is extensively used by both sides in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and has been in service since the 1960s. As such it is fielded by a plethora of nations, and many MLRS systems are based upon it. It fires 122-millimeter rockets and can deliver its entire 40-rocket payload in a mere 20 seconds.

A distinctly Ukrainian modification to the weapon system can be seen on the rear-view mirror at 0:19.
