GoPro footage released by Ukrainian forces shows a skirmish between Russian attackers and Ukrainian defenders located on the outskirts of Toretsk. From the footage, it's difficult to tell how close the Russian attackers actually are to the defender's fighting position but everything about this video is basic defensive conventional warfighting. It's likely that there are hundreds of brief engagements just like this one occurring every day across the front-lines of the Russo-Ukraine war with one side making contact with enemy defensive positions. What likely follows is a probing attack to try and spot important positions and intelligence, like the locations of machine guns and the disposition of troops in the area. Shortly after this there was probably a break contact from the Russian side, and if their infantrymen are worth anything they likely went back and added to a map of the Ukrainian lines in an attempt to further unravel their fireplan sketch to give higher echelon's of leadership the intelligence they need to guide future attacks. On the Ukrainian side, worthwhile infantrymen would be shoring up defensive positions, relocating their machine guns, and further emplacing obstacles so that if another larger scale assault is made by the enemy, they're not able to walk into something they've already got a solid reconnaissance on.
