Ukraine Uses German Artillery to Dump Rounds on Russians in Zaporizhzhia

This footage shows a German-donated PzH2000 self-propelled howitzer firing in rapid succession. It is allegedly being used to target the 503rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, a Russian unit operating near the city of Zaporizhzhia.

The PzH designation refers to “panzerhaubitze” which translates to “armored howitzer”- Germany has retained its knack for naming things based on exactly what they are- see “flugzeug” (flight stuff) for “airplane.” This particular model of panzerhubitze, the 2000, boasts a 155-millimeter cannon capable of automatic 5-round salvos, spaced to land at the same time, as seen here. This is otherwise known as MRSI (multiple rounds, simultaneous impact). The Ukrainians have put the PzH2000s through a famous amount of work, exceeding the factory limit of 100 rounds per day. In fact, while the barrel of a PzH2000 cannon was expected to have a service life of around 4,500 shots, in Ukrainian service, they often see up to 20,000.
