Drone footage of Ukrainian defenders beating back Russian mechanized assaults in the vicinity of Pokrovsky. Artillery and drones provide much of the lethal fires for the defenders, though we do see some vehicles struck with direct-fire munitions. Russian tanks and BMPs are struck and brew up in a dozen mini-infernos, crews scattering. Despite the casualties the Russian Army continues to press, even as Ukrainian troops continue to make gains in Kursk. Some observers theorize that Pokrovsky has developed into a main effort for the Russians, demonstrating a focus of effort and concentration of combat power not previously demonstrated by them in this conflict. It could be that the Ukrainians are aware of this and are utilizing an elastic defense, trading space for time and forcing the Russians to fight for every meter. It could also be that they are willing to sacrifice Pokrovsky, allowing it to become another charnel house for Russian men I the manner of Bakhmut. And it might be that the Russians are aware of this and are willing to pay that price in order to seize the town and the strategic terrain beyond it.
