A member of the Turkish Military is almost killed when an improvised explosive device detonates right next to him inside of a building. The IED fails to fully detonate however, saving his life.
There was some debate about this topic online, where some individuals think that the explosion was simply a round impacting next to the advancing soldier. However, having seen this type of IED failure first-hand, I can confidently say what we're seeing is the explosives inside of the device failing to fully detonate. This was common-place with improvised explosive devices in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's a result of the devices being homemade, and the explosives being used having a lower quality-standard than that of professional military grade explosives.
Had this device fully exploded, then chances are the remains of this Turkish Soldier would have been painting the insides of the building his crew was clearing their way through. I hope this guy realizes just how lucky he was when he recorded this video.
