It's really easy to ignore the fact that there's a war going on in someone else's country. In fact, the entire world has been ignoring on-going conflicts for about as long as human history has been written. Most recently there was the Global War on Terror and the Civil War in Syria. There's also on-going conflicts in Myanmar, Nigeria, Mexico, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Columbia, Congo, Mali, Mozambique, and the list goes on and on.

It's not until you're seeing the conflict in your backyard that the reality of the situation really impacts you. It's easy enough to forget about the conflict in Ukraine, or to stop worrying about it because it's out of your control when you're not in the country. But, like the man who recorded the first Battle for Aleppo from his balcony, Ukrainians are now able to record warfare from their own front-door in real-time.

I don't know how we change the perception of people who so easily forget about large scale conflicts that threaten the stability of the entire world. I don't have the answer to that. All I can do is show you the reality of these people with our webpage here at Funker530. I can tell you that not a day in my life passes by without the reality of these situations weighing heavily on my shoulders, because I watch it daily, the same as many of you who are here on our webpage.

Sure, we spend a lot of time analyzing combat footage here. We discuss tactics, technique, procedures, equipment, and the situation on the ground from a strategic level. All of that is well and good, it serves its purpose. I think it's the videos like this one that hit me the hardest though. Some guy on his front porch pointing a camera phone at the sky when suddenly a Russian Su-27 screams overhead blasting missiles and dropping counter-measures. This guy didn't ask to be involved, but there he is, smack in the middle of Hell created by other men who don't even register his or his family's existence.
