Syrian Troops Rocked By Drone Grenades

I find myself having a nostalgic morning as footage surfaces showing explosive munitions being dropped from a quadcopter in Syria, the birth place of the commercial drone dropped munition style attack. To top it off, the footage is dubbed with a new-to-me dank nasheed music track. This takes me back.

The information we have about the video is that the ones controlling the drone are members of the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), an al Qaeda affiliate. The ground targets are reportedly government troops the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). The insurgents are using VOG grenades and the location is reportedly in the vicinity of al Bab, in Syria's Hama governorate.

Again, these drone dropped munition attacks using commercial helicopter drones were first recorded in Syria around 2016. The technique has spread across the globe and is regularly being used in places like Myanmar (Burma) and in Mexico by the cartels. However, the pinnacle of improvised commercial drone warfare is occurring in right now in Ukraine. There are entire industries creating cutting edge technology that blurs the lines between improvised drone weapons and legitimate military hardware.

However, there is one thing missing from Ukrainian drone videos that the Syrian rebels have locked down... and that's the dank ass nasheeds.
