Syrian Rebels Hammer Syrian Army Troops with Small Arms Fire

Early footage from the Syrian Civil War captures an assault against what appears to be a regime military outpost. The enemy is clearly visible returning fire at the Syrian Rebels.

While the exact time, date, and location of this video are lost to the internet forever, there's a few things we can say for certain about this video. It's filmed the perspective of the Free Syrian Army, we can tell this from the watermarks the team that put it on the internet have placed in the top left hand corner of the video. Also, from this we can gather that this footage was recorded before the Free Syrian Army was inundated with Islamic Extremists who wanted to carve out their own piece of Syria to lord over. From this, we can also say that this footage is probably pre-2014, which also explains the lower quality of the video.

What's awesome about it is that it's some of the more rare combat footage where both sides of the fighting are clearly captured on camera. In the beginning, we can see one of the rebel fighters handling a PKM to put rounds down range towards the Syrian Arab Army's position. A little later in the video, the camera pans towards the target, and we can see three members of the SAA start to return fire while maneuvering.

The truly unfortunate thing about a video like what we're seeing here is that we'll never know the outcome of this specific gun fight. We'll never know who won, and we'll never know who lost. We'll never know who lived, and we'll never know who died. All we know is what we see in the video, and honestly it's just not enough information to properly paint the context.
