On May 1, 2021 an Officer Involved shooting occurred in Oklahoma City when a suspect began chasing an Officer, later causing a head on collision. Oklahoma City Police Officer Flowers received report of an unrelated incident when he radioed in that an individual attempted to ram his police cruiser.
The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Quinton Pace, missed his first attempt at a head on collision with Officer Flowers. Pace turned his vehicle around and began chasing Officer Flowers from the rear, side swiping the police cruiser.
After passing Officer Flowers in a side swipe, Pace drove further down the road where he would make his third and final pass before disabling both vehicles. As seen in the footage, Pace made direct contact with Officer Flowers cruiser. Upon disabling the vehicle, Officer Flowers was then trapped in the vehicle due to the deployment of his airbags.
Pace exited his vehicle and began moving toward Officer Flowers, where he began firing numerous rounds into the cruiser. Quickly, Officer Flowers grabbed his AR-15 and began firing through the windshield and drivers side door of his cruiser.
Flowers made contact with multiple shots on Pace which would then disable him enough to prevent further harm. Pace was treated for his wounds by additional responding Officers and was taken to a local hospital where he would make a full recovery. As for Officer Flowers, he sustained only minor cuts and bruises from the incident.
Later reports have mentioned that Pace was attempting suicide by Police and admitted to wanting to die because his girlfriend and kids left him.
What a bizarre instance to begin this Officer involved shooting. Causing a direct head on collision then charging at the Officers disabled vehicle... Let us know what you think in the comments below.
