This footage, provided by a member of the Sudanese military, shows his squad shooting at RSF vehicles. One of them flips and explodes in dramatic fashion. The roadside is littered with burned-out wrecks because the Sudanese have hit RSF along the same road at least ten times.
Although it was initially described as an “ambush,” this is probably closer to a blockade-running situation. The Al-Kadru road connects an oil refinery, known as Al-Jili, to Bahri. According to the Sudanese military, the oil refinery is held by RSF, and has essentially been besieged by Sudanese forces for over a month. Therefore, it’s pretty likely that the RSF drivers are knowingly attempting to run a gauntlet than being ambushed unawares.
Here is another instance of RSF trying to break out of the area, with similar results.
