Members of a Special Operations team participating in joint operations to defeat the Islamic State of Khorasan release footage recorded on their helmet mounted camera systems.
One of the last major American ground operations in Afghanistan occurred between 2017 and 2018. It saw members of the Joint Special Operations Command flooding territory controlled by the Afghan branch of the Islamic State with Afghan Commandos and Special Forces teams tasked specifically with rooting the Islamic State out and destroying them by any means necessary.
Post 2014, this was one of the first times ground combat troops from the United States had been cut loose to wage war. The fear at the time was that the Islamic State would control vast territories inside of Afghanistan, which would allow them a safe haven to prepare terror attacks abroad. For that reason, Special Operations Troops were allowed to lead groups of Afghan Commandos into direct combat against ISIS-K in the Khorasan Province of Afghanistan.
The above is just a small amount of footage that was captured by members of the American Special Operations teams that went in with Afghan Commandos to destroy ISIS-K before they could get their feet underneath of them in Afghanistan.
