Night vision footage recorded on what appears to be an aerial extraction shows an RPG impacting with the rear of a rotary wing aircraft. According to the release source, the aircraft was with SOAR, however we are unable to independently verify that information at this time. If it is SOAR, the aircraft was likely conducting an extraction for either U.S. Army Rangers or an ODA team.
The above said, the call sign Mako 1-2 is heard towards the end of the video. Throughout a good portion of the Global War on Terror, there was a number of SEAL teams that used the Mako call sign. The building seen at the beginning of the video is also indicative of the style of compounds one would expect to see in Afghanistan as well. Everything above however is just my best guess based on combat operations in the region however, and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Again, we are unable to confirm a time, date, unit, or location for this footage.
