Marines from the 1st Anglico's small craft company take contact while doing a river patrol near Ramadi. They respond with overwhelming fire superiority.
When you think of the war in Iraq, the first thing that comes to mind is not small craft companies or riverine operations. But, it is indeed a fact that there are rivers in Iraq, and we needed to control those rivers in order to maintain positive control of large areas of operations that lived on those small bodies of water.
Throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Marines of Anglico and FAST company were utilized to conduct these operations quite routinely. This video shows the Marines of 1st Anglico in a raging gunfight with insurgents from the decks of their small crafts.
