Action camera footage recorded from the bottom of a Ukrainian Mi-24V shows a section of rotary wing aircraft conducting an unguided rocket attack against Russian positions.
We've discussed this technique in other posts in the past. If you want to read more about it, you can hit the search bar up top and search for the words canopy technique or unguided. The TL;DR version is that they pilots know an approach vector towards the target and estimated angle they can use to make their rockets reach the range to that target. They then pitch up and lob the rockets with some basic mathematics towards Russian positions.
We've seen the Russians also utilize this technique very heavily throughout the conflict. The purpose is to keep the rotary wing assets over friendly ground forces to minimize the risk of having the aircraft shot down by ground based threats capable of engaging with the aircraft.
