Russian "Wagner" Mercenary Group Operating In Central African Republic

A music-backed video appeared on "Reverse Side of the Medal," a Russian mercenary social media channel, showing various clips of "Wagner" private military contractors (PMC) operating in the Central African Republic (CAR).

The PMCs are officially "training" local government forces, but in reality are doing a considerable amount of fighting against rebel groups to ensure the local government stays in power while expanding Russian foreign influence. The use of PMCs, or use of active Spetsnaz under the guise of contractors, allows Russia to carry out military operations off the record with complete deniability of responsibility.
