Footage released through official Russian sources shows multiple Russian Su-25s providing close air support for ground troops.
It's a rare occurrence these days to see Russian fighter pilots providing actual close air support for their troops on the ground. For the most part, Russian air support has only been seen flying over Russian controlled territory using weapon systems with over the horizon capabilities. The Russian have been conducting air support in that manner primarily to safeguard their own aircraft from MANPAD and other surface-to-air missile threats.
