Thermal footage out of Vuhledar reportedly shows a squad of Russian marines patrolling in a file formation across open terrain when they are engaged by accurate artillery. The first round lands in the middle of their unit, and as they group up to treat the wounded, a second high explosive round lands amid the team. The type of shell used in the fire mission isn't known, but an experienced field artillerymen would have opted for a "proximity" fuse setting, which would have bursted just overhead and likely killed or wounded all target personnel in the first burst.
