Footage released from Russian sources allegedly shows the destruction of a Ukrainian fighting position by troops utilizing a Kornet ATGM system. The entire encounter was recorded by a Russian drone team.
The date and location of this footage is currently unknown, as Russian sources are always very illusive when talking about the operations of their troops. This could be an operational security measure, or it could be because the footage is fabricated and simply shows Russian troops firing a Kornet missile for no reason. Regardless, while we're not able to independently verify the validity of this footage, we're posting it because it does appear to actually be recorded inside of Ukraine unlike a lot of the footage release from the Russian POV that we skip over. It also doesn't appear to have some of the same signals that indicate it was filtered through a Russian Public Affairs Officer before it's release, which is good enough reason to release it in my opinion.
For those of you who are out of the loop on the 9M133 Kornet, it's the second generation ATGM that was first introduced in 1998. It's primary purpose is to destroy main battle tanks, however Syria has proven that the weapon system is more than capable of defeating enemy fighting positions as well. You can tell when it's a Russian talking about this weapon system over text because they spell it Cornet instead of Kornet. Kornet is the official export designation of this weapon system by NATO. It's NATO reporting name is the AT-14 Spriggan.
