An incredibly rare incident was captured on video as a Ukrainian soldier shoots down a Russian Kalibr cruise missile with an Igla man portable air defense system (MANPADS) surface-to-air missile.
The soldier possibly saved lives and certainly prevented significant damage to Ukrainian infrastructure.
Russia carried out a massive, nationwide bombardment on Ukrainian targets using Kalibr cruise missiles and Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones. The attacks are retaliation for the Ukrainian sabotage operation that knocked out the Kerch bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula to the Russian main land, a crucial logistics route for the Russian military.
Russia reportedly launched 83 missiles (and loiter munitions), of which 45 were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. The Russians targeted power plants and government buildings, as well as parks and cultural landmarks. The total death toll isn't clear at this time. The strikes hit across the entire country, as far west as Lviv.
