Massive explosions are being recorded at the Russian Black Sea Fleet's Saki Airbase in the occupied Crimean peninsula.
Although rumors are buzzing on social media that suggest a HIMARS attack, we do not yet have confirmation as to the nature of the blasts. Additionally, Ukrainian force's front line trace is approximately 220km from the Russian airbase, which is basically out of range of the HIMARS... unless the ATACMS or ER GMLRS (which isn't supposed to be in service yet) were used.
Saki airbase has been under Russian control since 22 March 2014, and is now home to the Russian 43rd Separate Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Black Sea Fleet. The airbase hosts Su-30SM, Su-24M, Su-24MP, Tu-134 aircraft.
UPDATE: Shortly after posting, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed that aviation ammunition exploded at the airfield, but that there were no casualties and no aircraft were damaged.
