Russia Attack Helicopters Launch Rockets From Low Altitudes

Drone footage shows a team of Russian attack helicopters, a Ka-52 Alligator and an Mi-28 Havoc, flying at low levels and then consecutively launching unguided rockets toward Ukrainian positions.

The lofting of unguided rockets allows the attack birds to stay out of range of Ukrainian MANPADS but at the cost of effectiveness. The rockets may be able to hit or harass a large area target, such as a military base or city block, but are not capable of engaging individual vehicles or troop formations . The technique can be compared to MLRS rocket artillery, but the blast yield of the helicopter munitions is significantly less.
