Route Clearance Hits Secondary IED with Mine Roller

Members of a route clearance unit in Afghanistan hit a secondary improvised explosive device just minutes after their lead vehicle was hit. Where there's one there's two.

One of the first things you're taught in counter-IED warfare is that where there's one, there's two. Where there's two, there's more. This video, captured by Marines in Afghanistan on route clearance duty, is a perfect display of why that's one of the first things your taught about improvised explosive devices.

Off camera in this video, the truck the MATV is maneuvering around was hit by an IED. Just minutes later, the mine roller on the second vehicle strikes an IED as well. Judging by the placement of the secondary device, the intent was to hit troops moving up to the vehicle to render aid.

IEDs are no joke.
