Historic combat footage from 1994 captures a gunfight between members of the Croat 1st Rama Brigade and Bosniak troops during Operation Tvigi.
When watching combat footage like this, it's important to remember the size of cameras in 1994. This wasn't being recorded on a digital handheld camera device. We're talking about the early 1990's here, which I know doesn't seem like a long time ago to some of us. This video was being filmed either directly to VHS or mini-tape on a camcorder roughly the size of a small radio boombox or full-sized DSLR camera system, so the fact that this footage even exists is pretty amazing.
For the purpose of context, Operation Tvigi was a combat operation conducted by the Croatian Defence Council. also known as the HVO, in January of 1994 during the Croat-Bosniak War. the HVO captured an important strategic position and broke the offensive of the Bosniak forces. This battle, which was a decisive victory for the Rama Brigade and HVO, changed the balance of power on the Rama-Uskoplje front. It also marked a turning point in the war between the HVO and the Republic of Bosnia and would later be the catalyst for the Washington agreement that ended the conflict.
