Heavily edited body worn camera footage released by the Fort Lupton Police Department in Colorado captures the moment a train smashes into a police cruiser with a handcuffed woman in the backseat.
Eight minutes of heavily edited body worn camera footage has been released to the public by Fort Lupton Police Department showing an accident where a police cruiser was left on a set of active train tracks. The department had stopped the suspect, 20-year-old Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, over a report of a road rage incident involving a gun. After placing the woman in handcuffs and putting her in the back of the cruiser, they moved to search her vehicle for a firearm.
Shortly into the search, a train's horn can be heard blaring before the video abruptly cuts to the officers approaching their destroyed police cruiser.
Yareni Rios-Gonzalez remained hospitalized Monday with serious bodily injuries sustained in the crash. She is expected to survive. The officer responsible for the police cruiser has been placed on administrative leave while the situation is under investigation.
