Viral footage surfacing today, shows officers from the Los Angeles Police Department rescuing a pilot whose plane became disabled on a set of railroad tracks during an emergency landing.
On January 9th, 2022, a pilot flying a single-engine Cessna 172 had taken off from the Whiteman Airport, Pacoima, CA. Reports have indicated that shortly after take-off, the pilot was forced to make an emergency crash landing after experiencing a suspected power failure. With the utmost unfortunate events to follow, the pilot successfully landed the single-engine plane; however it was disabled on a railroad track with a commuter train traveling directly at him.
As shown in the dramatic body camera footage, LAPD Foothill division officers witnessing the incident, hastily approached the disabled aircraft and successfully removed the pilot just seconds before the commuter train made impact, obliterating the plane into pieces. At the time of this writing, the condition of the pilot is still unknown, nor has his identity been disclosed.
To the officers who put their lives at stake to save this pilot, your acts of heroism will not go unnoticed.
