Philippines' Blockade Runner Attacked by Chinese Coast Guard Water Cannons

This drone footage shows a civilian resupply ship from the Philippines being harassed by the Chinese Coast Guard as it runs their blockade. This is the latest incident in a continued altercation between the two countries as China attempts to exert control over the South China Sea.

The "Unaiza Mae 4" is the civilian-owned ship that ran the Chinese blockade as shown, on 23 March 2024. While both Philippine and United States Navy vessels are in the vicinity, the Philippines continue to rely on civilian sailors in order to avoid escalating the conflict while amassing direct evidence of Chinese aggression. This is not unlike the antics China got up to in the air last year. It would appear that here, as well, China is trying to push the Philippines over the brink, and then use their reaction as justification for more force- like a textbook bad neighbor or annoying sibling.

The Chinese Coast Guard is using water cannons against these civilian vessels, but these are very high-pressured cannons capable of doing heavy damage to such ships. Here, we can see the windows being blown out of the Unaiza Mae 4. These tactics, used on a similar ship two weeks ago, resulted in at least four injured crew members.
