PDF Fighter In Myanmar Takes One In The Helmet

This footage, provided by a People's Defense Force (PDF) unit in Myanmar, shows one of their guerillas taking a round to the head while fighting Junta forces. Luckily for him, the helmet stops the round.

People's Defense Force units are localized militias made up of the townspeople from the area- pretty much what it says on the tin. Therefore, the equipment and training of each PDF unit and member can vary widely. The fighter shown here seems definitely unfamiliar with combat operations- his weapon manipulations seem downright strange. Furthermore, after being lucky enough to survive being shot in the head at 0:12, he seems to lack the wherewithal or common sense to relocate. He doesn't even manage to orient his weapon at the threat. Then again, his bell is almost certainly still ringing.

Funker530's leading subject matter expert regarding protective equipment, Josh Brooks, is of the opinion that the helmet is probably South Korean in origin. However, there is a competing theory which suggests the helmet is an ersatz affair made from re-purposed Junta ballistic vests. In either case, this guy better buy a lottery ticket on his way to turn it in.
