On November 28th, 2021, Sacramento dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a witness stating a man was armed with a firearm, dancing in the street and pointing it at bystanders in the 6200 block of Lemon Hill Ave. Officers assigned to the Sacramento Police Department responded to the incident and were immediately confronted by a witness upon arriving in the area.
In the dashcam footage provided, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Jacob Armada, walking up the stairs toward an apartment. As both officers exited their vehicles, they provided verbal commands to Armada, who then drew a firearm from his waistband and pointed it at the officers. In response, one officer discharged his service weapon, which led to an intense close-quarters battle.
During the gunfight, one officer communicated he was hit, however after further investigation, a round traveled through the officers pant leg barely missing him. Armada fled the scene where the officer involved shooting occurred but was later captured after an 8-hour search. No injuries were reported from both parties involved.
Armada has since been booked and is facing charges of attempted murder of police officers, assaulting a police K9, assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
