The video above is the full critical incident report released by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. It breaks down an officer involved shooting that occurred in December of 2021. In the footage, the officer chases the teenage suspect, who has only been identified as a 14-year-old, through the apartment complex until he eventually draws his pistol and turns to fire on the officer.
The officer, while injured, still engaged with the suspect until his pistol jammed. He then cleared the malfunction with an immediate action drill and re-engaged the suspect after determining that he was a threat to other responding officers and people in the apartment complex.
The teenager later surrendered to police and was apprehended without any further violence. The officer was later transported by EMS to a local medical facility to receive treatment.
