On April 16, 2021 San Antonio officer Tyler Sauvage conducted a traffic stop on 2300 block of Pinn Road, which led to and officer involved shooting.
Officer Sauvage is seen approaching the truck, which was occupied by two men (33-year-old Sammie Barbosa and 25-year-old Alex Garcia) and a woman (Not identified), where he shortly begins telling the driver to stop digging through his pockets. The driver was then instructed to turn off the vehicle and place the key somewhere visible to the officers. Officer Sauvage demanded the driver's identification and then told him to exit the vehicle after smelling marijuana.
The driver, soon admits they had been smoking marijuana but did not have any in their possession. As the conversation between the driver and officer is taking place, by listening closely we can hear the passenger yelling for a gun from the woman in the back. Seconds later, shots ring out, striking the officer in the hand and in the radio.
As Officer Sauvage takes a hard cover position, he begins returning fire after clearing a malfunction. In a desperate attempt to contact officers in the area, Officer Sauvage yells to by-standers to contact 911, as his radio had now been disabled.
The two male occupants in the truck were pronounced deceased at the scene from their inflicted gun shot wounds. As for the woman, she was shot in the torso but later made a recovery in the hospital. There have been no known charges yet for the un-identified woman.
