South Africa is still in a state of violent mayhem as several days of mass criminal violence, theft, and destruction has overwhelmed critical infrastructure and left over 200 people dead.
We have received several gigs of footage from our community members of the ongoing incidents and decided to compile many of them into a single video while the situation is still ongoing.
Mobs of people looted and torched shopping centers, vehicles, and businesses before turning their attention toward residential areas and the homes of innocent families. Within hours, police were out of ammunition and supplies and were asking civilians for donations.
The violence triggered a response from citizens trying to protect their families, homes, and businesses. Looters were apprehended by vigilante groups and beaten and killed as punishment. Squatter camps, where many of the criminal rioters live, were burnt as retribution by angry citizens.
The South African government activated approximately 25,000 troops to stabilize the hardest hit areas of Durban, Pretoria, and Johannesburg. Over 2,500 criminals have been arrested.
