(NSFW) Ukrainian Sniper Engages Russian Patrol

Out of all the shock inducing weapon systems in the world, one of the greatest is and always will be the individual sniper. This footage was recorded from the Ukrainian perspective, it shows a Russian patrol being engaged by a Ukrainian sniper.

On the battlefield, one of the greatest advantages you can have is an indecisive enemy. An indecisive enemy will fail to make decisions in the moment, creating openings and opportunities that allow for them to be exploited by your weapon systems. An easily exploited enemy is an easily defeated enemy, and battlefield shock is one of the fastest ways to force your enemy to become slow in the decision making process.

There are a myriad of weapon systems available that can induce shock. During the Global War on Terror, improvised explosive devices were frequently used by enemies of the United States to induce shock on U.S. and coalition forces. Going back to the beginning of that same conflict, specifically Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Shock and Awe campaign pushed thousands of Iraqi Soldiers to surrender in the window of opportunity opened up by indecisive Iraqi commanders and Saddam Hussein himself.

While these are both instances of large scale shock being impressed upon leadership, there's another form of this that can be pushed all the way down to individual Soldiers on the ground. For the most part, an effective sniper is a surefire way to induce battlefield shock on your enemy. If you can impress upon your enemy that at any point in time a bullet with his name on it could end his life, you can make him second guess every single decision they make.

In this video, which was released by a Ukrainian SSO sniper team, we're seeing the beginning stages of shock set in for Russian troops, as they're just now realizing that they're in the scope of an individual who knows how to use the rifle he is laying behind. The Russian troops have no idea where the sniper is, and as a result they have absolutely no idea where is safe and where is not safe. After the first shot, we get to see complete panic set in within their ranks, and they actually run directly towards the sniper's position indicating that they have absolutely no idea where the fire is coming from.

These individual Russian soldiers are going to be effectively ruined for combat after this encounter. For the remainder of their time on the battlefield they will consistently and constantly be wondering if they're in this or another sniper's scope. It's likely they'll think twice before taking a knee from here on out, and every danger area they cross will have them thinking twice about this specific moment in time when one of their friends was killed by an unseen person behind the scope of a long range rifle.
