This compilation of Dallas PD bodycam and dashcam footage depicts a high-speed chase and shootout involving a stolen U-haul. While the gunshot and medical care have been obfuscated, discretion is advised.

The footage begins from the dashcam perspective of a police cruiser in pursuit of the stolen vehicle. Note that at the outset of this chase, the suspect, 41-year-old Ryan Taylor, used the U-haul to crush a DPD vehicle against a fire hydrant, rendering it inoperable (not captured in this video). At 0:46 we see the vehicle take off at a high rate of speed, narrowly swerving around parked cars in the residential area.

The footage picks up 3 minutes later, as the chase carries on to the Dallas North Tollway. Taylor swerves to the right into a utility truck, forcing it off the roadway. At 01:31, he swerves between vehicles across multiple lanes, pushing them and clearly trying to create obstacles/distractions for the pursuing officers. At 02:25 he intentionally veers left to strike another vehicle. At 03:18, he does this again, but to the right, nearly knocking a red SUV into a concrete wall. The chase exits the Tollway at 04:55.

As the U-Haul runs an intersection, it comes within feet and seconds of collision with a DART bus. This incredibly reckless maneuver manages to slow the pursuing officers, and chase footage picks up approximately 5 minutes later from another officer’s point of view. At 05: 36, Taylor appears to try to force the U-Haul between two vehicles, ramming into the rear of them. He fails to do so, although he causes them to spin out as the U-Haul crashes into the median. Taylor can be seen fleeing on foot at 05:46, running to a nearby building. The officer pursues on foot, repeatedly warning Taylor to stop.

Taylor fires two spaced shots at 06:21, and the officer returns fire for most of a magazine, striking the suspect in the leg. He closes the distance with the downed suspect at 07:57. At 08:16, officers are seen placing handcuffs and a tourniquet on Taylor. In the background, a female officer is seen recovering Taylor’s weapon, which was reported stolen. Amazingly, despite Taylor’s reckless actions and disregard for life, all 13 drivers he struck managed to keep positive control of their vehicles and no one was injured.
