Body camera footage from an April 2022 incident has been released by the Houston Police Department, showing a deadly officer involved shooting that occurred after a trespassing suspect drew a firearm against responding officers.
On April 9th, 2022, Houston officers received information that a male suspect, known to carry firearms, was trespassing at a business located at 729 West Mount Houston Road. Officers obtained the male's identity and learned he had a parole violation for organized criminal activity. The officers arrived at the location and found the suspect in a small room inside the business.
While officers were giving the suspect verbal commands, he reached for a weapon. At that time, officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect several times. The male was transported an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
At a later date, the man was identified as 48-year-old Richard Nichols.
