This footage, provided by Fort Collins, Colorado, shows their police officers responding to a call concerning an armed male suspect who was yelling racial slurs and may have attacked someone. When prompted to drop his weapons, the suspect refuses and his hit with a TASER. He shakes it off and charges, whereupon he is shot by one of the officers. Viewer discretion is advised.
The officers found William Hayes, 28, in possession of a can of pepper spray and a hatchet. He refuses to drop them, at which point the officer deploys his TASER at 0:54. In yet another example of the TASER not automatically ending a confrontation, Hayes gets up and charges the officer. Unlike in the linked video, this officer is prepared for the possibility. He officer then shoots Hayes several times in the chest.
Somewhat surprisingly, Hayes doesn’t fall, and in fact keeps walking toward the officer. He falls to his knees at 01:15. At this point, he becomes compliant and is ordered into a handcuffing position. Then the officers search him and render aid. However, when transported to an area hospital, he was pronounced dead. No other persons, bystanders or officers were hurt.
