(NSFW) Suspect Ambushes LAPD Cops, Squares Up, Gets Tased

This compilation of vehicle, body, and security camera footage depicts a suspect who ambushes a Los Angeles PD patrol, flees the scene and still winds up taken down via TASER. Because the suspect is wounded by gunfire, viewer discretion is advised.

Footage begins from the perspective of a car ahead of the one which is ambushed. The suspect, later identified as Jose Delgado-Pinto, walks into the oncoming lane of traffic at 0:04. At 0:12, enhanced video shows the suspect pointing a handgun at the oncoming officers. There is an audible gunshot at 0:17- 0:18, which is again audible from the rear camera’s perspective. This perspective shows the officers in the trailing unit stopping the vehicle and dismounting. The suspect is clearly recorded as he flees the scene.

At 0:39, we see bodycam footage from the passenger of the ambushed vehicle. The driver was unable to activate his camera while driving and responding to the shooter. The driver can be seen firing his weapon at 0:44, although the audio was not captured. The suspect is superficially wounded by the officer and flees. When the buffer period expires and audio becomes available, the passenger officer is heard calling for a perimeter as he locates the suspect’s weapon. Security camera footage captures the suspect ditching the weapon at 02:54.

A responding officer encounters the suspect at 03:30. He continues to flee with the officer in pursuit, but then squares up with the officer when he realizes he can’t run. He ignores orders to get on the ground and is tased as he begins to fight another officer at 03:48. As he is arrested, he refuses to offer up his arms to be cuffed. The officer requests a baton- it’s important to note that in this context, it would would be used for levering the suspect’s arms from under his body, not for striking. The suspect begins claiming that he cannot breathe. His left arm, wounded by the earlier gunfire, is briefly visible as he is cuffed at 04:20.

The suspect was treated for his injuries and arrested upon release from care.
