(NSFW) Sexual Assault Suspect Headshot By Chicago Police and US Marshal

Three Chicago police officers and at least one U.S. Marshal, engaged in an officer involved shooting on July 9, 2021. The suspect, who was later identified as 34-year-old Klevontaye White, was wanted in Chicago under two felony warrants.

In December 2020, White became a missing fugitive after he cut off his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet. Along with this, investigators later released that White was wanted on fifteen counts of sexual assault with a firearm.

At around 9:40 a.m., officers and U.S. Marshals arrived at the 100-block of South Kilpatrick Avenue, where White was located in the rear passenger seat of a black SUV. Soon after arriving on the scene, officers gave White verbal commands to exit the vehicle with his hands in the air. Refusing to comply, White retrieved a firearm from inside the vehicle and began pointing it at officers.

Under the stress of the situation, three officers and one U.S. Marshal began discharging their service weapons into the vehicle, striking White multiple times. After securing the area, officers immediately began providing medical aid to White, however he was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

All three CPD officers who shot at White were placed on a 30 day administrative leave, as is standard procedure during COPA investigations of police shootings. Sources as of right now still indicate COPA has yet to rule on whether officers were justified in shooting White.
