(NSFW) Separatists Carry Out Multiple IED Attacks Against Pakistan Military

Separatist insurgents known as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), operating out of Pakistan's Baluchistan province executed a series of improvised explosive device (IED) attacks on a Pakistan Frontier Corps troops in the vicinity of the Bolan Pass on Mar. 26, 2021.

Separatist attacks on Pakistan military targets in Baluchistan are common, however, the use of improvised explosive devices by the rebels is a relatively new tactic. Previously, attacks by the Balochi rebels were almost entirely direct fire ambushes on convoys.

The use of roadside bombs allows smaller, less detectable groups of insurgents to carry out equally deadly attacks on enemy units while reducing the risk of friendly casualties.

The various Baluchistan insurgent groups are fighting for independence from Pakistan as they claim the Pakistan government offers their ethnic group no representation within the government, while extracting resources from their mineral rich province and selling out their ancestral lands to Chinese investors.
